Cookridge vs Holy Trinity Match Report

Cookridge vs Holy Trinity

Another league game, another glorious evening and another fabulous, exciting game of football. Both teams were on the attack from the kick off, with both defences looking shaky at times. Mackenzie’s long throws were causing all kinds of problems and eventually one paid off. There was confusion in the box and Nathan pounced to tap into an empty net, 1-0. Both teams then had further chances with Sam, Nathan and Mackenzie all coming close. Despite this, it was Holy Trinity that got the next goal, 1-1 at half-time.

The second half was dominated by Cookridge. An early goal from Almo, 2-1, after some quick feet and silky skills saw the confidence flood through the team. Liam dropped back into defence as he battled through the pain barrier, Ben was always alert and played sensible, no risk football, and we always looked dangerous in attack. Sam, Arjan and Cobie all had chances to extend the lead near the end but a series of saves, blocks and tackles kept it 2-1 at full time.

Man of the match- Almo

Cookridge vs Ireland W Y5/6 Football Match Report

Cookridge vs Ireland W

On a glorious evening for football, Cookridge played their first game in two months, knowing a win would keep them top of the league. Cookridge started the faster and more dominant, winning every tackle and loose ball. A quick throw from Matty to Sam led to a chance for Arjan who coolly slotted home for his first goal for the team, 1-0. Moments later and Nathan finished well not once but twice to make the score 3-0. Before halftime however Ireland W made somewhat of a comeback and put the Cookridge defence under some pressure before scoring, 3-1 halftime.

The second game was a more even contest. Cookridge added a fourth with a fine finish from Sam, 4-1 before a Ireland W breakaway led to another goal for them, 4-2. The next goal was crucial. Cookridge scored it through Nathan, to complete his hatrick, after good work by Sam down the wing, 5-2. It was then Mackenzie who finished off the scoring with seconds remaining, with a cool finish, 6-2.

Man of the match- Nathan Brown

Leeds Rhinos Half-Time Relay Race For Sport Relief

Last Friday, staff gave up their Friday night and escorted 15 children to watch Leeds Rhinos against London Broncos. As well as being invited to the players lounge before the game, the children participated in a relay race at half-time against 5 other primary schools. Each child had to run half the length of the field before passing the ball onto the next member of the team. After a thrilling race, we came second- a fabulous achievement! A BIG thank you to Mrs Horsley, Mrs Pattison and Miss Carroll who gave up their time to support the kids.

Year 5/6 Football Matches- 4/3/14

Cookridge vs Adel St John

Both teams played on a tricky surface in the first half which was very even. Adel probably had the best chance of the half but a fine save by Matty kept the score at 0-0. The second half saw Cookridge on top and dominate the half. Cookridge were on top in midfield and it finally told. Nathan put their defence under pressure before winning the ball and passing to Liam who finished well, 1-0. With a minute left, Arjan found Cobie who chipped the keeper with a left footed shot, 2-0 Overall, it was a hard fought victory but one we deserved.

Cookridge vs Holy Trinity

The second game was a brilliant game to watch with chances at both ends. Again, Matty was brilliant in net and Ben and Yacine remained composed and in control in defence. Sam had a great chance blocked and further goal mouth scrambles couldn’t force the ball in the net, the final score, 0-0.
